Sometimes, great design is measured not by the size of the space, but by the complexity of the challenge.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, the SI Solutions Office occupies what was once the top level of a multi-storey car park within the building, later converted into commercial office space. While the change of use unlocked new possibilities, it also presented a significant design constraint — an exceptionally low ceiling that threatened to compromise comfort, openness and the overall workplace experience.

ISD embraced the challenge by fundamentally rethinking the space. Suspended ceilings were removed to expose the structural slab above, reclaiming valuable headroom and creating a greater sense of openness. Rather than disguising the building’s limitations, the design celebrated them, giving the workplace a contemporary industrial character while dramatically improving spatial comfort.

The planning strategy placed people first. Workspaces were positioned along the building perimeter to maximise access to natural daylight and city views, while enclosed functions such as meeting rooms, storage and server rooms were consolidated within the building core. The result is a bright, efficient and highly functional workplace where employee wellbeing became the primary design driver.

Despite its modest footprint, the office demonstrates how thoughtful planning, creativity and human-centred design can completely transform the perception of space.
