A Sustainable Transformation of a Live Banking Environment.

This project marks a significant milestone as the first branch of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad in Malaysia to achieve GreenRE Platinum certification, setting a new benchmark for sustainable banking environments in the country.

Located within an existing operational building in Meru, Klang, the project involved the complete transformation of a long-established branch in response to the evolving needs of modern banking and the growing importance of sustainability in the built environment.

A key challenge of the project was its “live” nature, the branch remained fully operational throughout the renovation process. The design and construction strategy was therefore carefully phased to ensure minimal disruption to daily banking services while progressively upgrading the entire environment.

The redesign integrates sustainability principles across spatial planning, material selection and operational efficiency, reflecting the bank’s commitment to environmentally responsible development.

The result is a contemporary banking environment that balances functionality, customer comfort and environmental performance, redefining what a modern, sustainable bank branch can be.
